Topaz colors vary from: Yellow, red-brown, light blue, pink-red, pale green and colorless. Being transparent, the colored stones are rarely vivid. The most common color is yellow with a red tint. The most valuable color is pink.

Citrine colors range from light yellow to gold brown. Also a transparent stone, the citrine's name is derived from its lemon yellow color. Natural citrines are rare. Most commercial citrines are heat-treated amethysts or smokey quartzes.
