Earrings Description

These beautiful drop earrings feature oval blue checkerboard topaz, bezel set in sterling silver and surrounded by a beaded halo. They were created for a client from Seattle, WA, who came into our Bellevue, WA showroom to work through the custom design process in person.

Oval Topaz

Each earring in this set contains two oval blue topaz, with one slightly smaller than the other. The larger of the two hangs at the bottom, serving to anchor the pieces, and the bezel setting used to hold all four in place frames them beautifully, while also bringing in a bit of an antique flair.

The stones are cut to display a checkerboard pattern, which plays on angles to show darker and lighter attributes depending on the angle they’re viewed from. This is particularly effective in earrings like this, as they move dynamically as you move, giving a constantly changing view to those around you.

Earring Design

These earrings features a fishhook style finding, which loops down gracefully to meet the top of the setting surrounding the smaller topaz. In addition to the frame created by the bezel setting, these gems are encircled by halos of beads, also made of sterling silver, that add a wonderful texture and depth to the design.

The grey tones of the polished silver create a lovely contrast with the mesmerizing blue of the topaz, and the varied surface of the beaded halo brings in still more different shades, reinforcing the every-changing surface of the gemstones. The rounded beads oppose the angular checkerboard pattern in the topaz, and this gives a satisfying balance to the piece. Design Your Own Earrings
