This elegant engagement ring features a cushion cut diamond prong set in the center, with bright cut set diamond accents lined with milgrain on the white gold shank below. It was created as a custom piece for a client who visited our Bellevue, WA showroom personally to begin the custom design process.
He provided us with a few inspiration pieces, and we combined his favorite features of each into a unique design. We shared this design with him in the form of CAD proofs that we posted to the online workroom we set up to manage his project, which allowed him to examine and evaluate them. He requested a few minor changes to our original design, and he also came in to see a wax model of the piece before giving final approval to move everything into production. Center Setting
In the center of this ring, a 1.87 carat cushion cut diamond is held in place by four talon prongs made of 18k white gold. These curl up over the rounded corners of the diamond, and their angular tips contrast subtly with the soft lines of the cushion cut.
On each ring front, two strands break off from the sides of the prongs and curl up to meet each other in a point about half-way up the side of the diamond. These complement the elegant lines of the cathedral shank nicely, and they serve the structural purpose of a gallery rail while also contributing to the delicacy of the design. Diamond and Milgrain Accents
Five small round diamonds are bright cut set down each shank shoulder, with the largest the second from the top. A slightly smaller diamond sits above this, and the diamonds below taper down gradually moving away from the center. This allows them to perfectly fill the slightly rounded shape at the top of the cathedral shank perfectly, and milgrain beading surrounds this section for a touch of vintage flair.
