Engagement Ring Description

This elegant engagement ring features an Asscher cut purple sapphire prong set in rose gold, with pear shaped pink sapphires on the sides, and bright cut set diamond accents lining part of the split, criss-cross shank. It was created for a client from Seattle, WA, who began the custom design process by using the Ring Builder feature on our website.

This was how he shared his initial ideas about the type of gemstones and the styles of rings he liked, and we used this information to put together a unique design for him. After he picked out the sketch he liked, we developed some detailed models in CAD and shared them with him. Three-stone setting

The centerpiece of this ring is an Asscher cut purple sapphire that’s perfectly framed by the four rose gold prongs holding it in place. This type of cut gives the stone a square shape with cropped corners, similar to an emerald cut, but it has a smaller table that sits up higher than that of the emerald. It’s a style that was quite popular in the early part of the 20th century and has recently begun making a comeback, and it helps give this ring some classical flair.Sapphire Engagement Rings

On either side of this center stone, a pear shaped pink sapphire is prong set in the space created by the criss-crossing of the split shank. The color of these stones is a nice complement to both the large purple sapphire and the warm tones of the band, adding an intermediate level of contrast and helping to unite the various elements in the piece.

Diamond Accents

Split prong set diamond accents run around the sides of the pear shaped sapphires that are not adjacent to the center stone, and these bring a lovely sparkle to the design. We initially had them running down the entire criss-cross portion of the band, but the client requested we keep them only around the side stones to help stay within his budget while preserving the classical elegance they provide.
