Custom Two-tone Diamond Engagement Ring

Engagement Ring Description

This gorgeous engagement ring features a round brilliant cut diamond in a six prong setting atop a criss-cross white gold band, accented with diamonds, milgrain, and hand-made yellow gold filigree. It was created for a client from Somis, CA, and we also made a matching wedding band to complete the set for him. Although he never visited our Bellevue, WA showroom personally, the structure of our custom design process ensured he got exactly what he wanted in both pieces. Design Your Own Engagement Ring

Center Setting

At the top of this ring, a 1.08 carat round brilliant cut diamond sits in a setting made up of six white gold prongs. The client had us remove the diamond from an existing ring he sent in, and we built this piece to match that stone’s particular dimensions.

The client was concerned about the center diamond sitting up too high, and so we lowered it slightly from our original design. We also modified other aspects of the setting to give a clearer view of the stone, and he was very happy with the way it came out.

Band Design

The shank splits at about the three-quarter point, and the two strands move out and then back in again to cross over each other twice before reaching the main setting. These elegant lines give the ring a delicate grace, and they complement the lovely shape of the center stone as well.

Hand-made yellow gold filigree in an elegant scroll pattern fills the space beneath the main diamond, and it continues below the shank shoulders as well. This gives the ring a subtle two-tone look, which is only intensified by the band of yellow gold that crosses the lower portion of the shank just after it splits to help connect the filigree to the rest of the piece. Diamond Accents

Bright cut set diamonds line the criss-cross strands of the shank, running from the main setting all the way down to the yellow gold bands. These are lined with milgrain beading, which frames them beautifully and also contributes to the lovely vintage overtones of the design. The companion engagement ring also features this combination of diamonds and milgrain, which is another detail that allows them to form such a beautiful piece when united.

Marquise shaped diamonds sit in the upper of the two spaces on each side that’s formed by the crossing over of the split strands, and these provide a wonderful sparkle that really completes the piece.
