Engagement Ring Description

This stunning engagement ring features an Asscher cut diamond tension set at the top of a criss-cross white gold split shank. It was created as part of a custom wedding set that also included a wedding band for a client from Castle Rock, CO, who reached out to us online to share his vision for the type of wedding set he wanted. We took the information he provided about his style and feature preferences, and we used that to develop a unique design for him in CAD. He requested some modifications to this, and he also asked that we ship him a wax model to examine in person to make sure every detail was perfect. One of his primary concerns was that both pieces of the wedding set could be worn on their own as well as combined, and that presented some unique structural challenges that we worked with him to address through the online workroom we set up to facilitate communication about his project.

Center Diamond and Setting

The centerpiece of this design is a 1.50 carat Asscher cut diamond, and it’s cradled in a tension setting that emerges from two opposite ends of the criss-cross split shank. The angles of the stone, with its mostly square shape and clipped corners, are highlighted by the way the setting follows its contours. Additionally, the way that the strands forming the setting never quite meet each other allows for an openness and provides an avenue for plenty of light to reach the diamond. Band Design

The band is composed of two strands that run parallel to each other almost all the way around, only coming together to form the center setting. About one quarter of the way from the top, each strand splits into two, with the bottom strand continuing along the original curvature of the ring and the top strand angling across to meet the diamond on the opposite side to form part of the center setting.

This arrangement creates a criss-crossing design that was a common theme in all of the inspiration designs the client provided. The way that the strands of the band maintain a consistent space between them all the way around allows them to accommodate the wedding band, which nestles perfectly within them when the two pieces are worn as a set.
