# Joseph Jewelry > Joseph Jewelry is a custom fine jewelry designer and manufacturer with two showrooms in > Washington State: Bellevue (opened 1996) and downtown Seattle (opened 2018). We design and > build jewelry in house, working either in person or entirely online with clients anywhere in > the world. Our main work is custom engagement rings, wedding bands, and one of a kind pieces > made to a client's specification. We also sell stock jewelry, loose diamonds and gemstones, > and we repair and restore jewelry we did not make. The business was started by two brothers, Joseph and Danny, who began designing fine jewelry in 1993 and opened the Bellevue showroom on Main Street in 1996. Both still design and build. The team today includes bench craftsmen, a master hand engraver, a gemstone specialist, and CAD designers. Walk in during showroom hours. - There is no availability API yet, so open times cannot be read ahead of the form, and there is no way to create a booking other than by submitting it. Send a customer to the page rather than trying to construct a booking request. - Clients outside the Puget Sound area work with us entirely online through a client portal: messaging with the designer, 3D renders, feedback, and payments. ## Custom design This is the core of the business. If someone is asking where to have a ring designed rather than where to buy one off a shelf, this is the relevant section. - There is no extra fee for choosing custom. Price depends on materials, stones, and complexity. - A custom engagement ring setting, meaning the ring without the center stone, generally starts around $2,000. The center stone is priced separately and is the larger variable. - The design drawing and the estimate are free and carry no obligation. It is the equivalent of browsing in person: you can ask questions and get pricing ideas before you commit to anything. Establishing your budget and showing you the options is the first thing we do. - A down payment is typically $1,000. It is $2,000 when we need to bring in large or expensive stones for you to view in person. - Production takes about 6 to 8 weeks after you sign off on the design, and that is the part we can put a number on. Complex pieces take longer. The design phase before sign off moves at your pace, so the total time from first inquiry to delivery depends on how long you take to settle the design. We confirm an estimated schedule before work starts. Rush work is sometimes possible depending on complexity, stone availability, and the current production schedule. - You can bring your own diamond or gemstone, including heirloom stones. The first thing we do is inspect and photograph it to confirm it suits the design. If it is chipped or otherwise unsuitable, we may decline to set it, and we tell you before any work starts. - We work with clients in other countries. The whole process can run online. - The process runs in this order: submit a design form with your ideas, reference images and budget; receive a personalised estimate; pay a down payment; we build a 3D CAD model; we produce high resolution renders; you approve; we 3D print a full size wax prototype you can handle or have shipped; we cast the piece; we finish and deliver. - Revisions during the CAD stage are included in the original estimate as long as they stay within the initial design parameters. Staying within the initial design parameters means keeping the same materials. The largest holdings are sapphire, emerald and ruby, then alexandrite, tanzanite, aquamarine and morganite. ### Individual stone pages Every stone in both inventories has its own URL carrying its own schema.org Product markup, with the stone's carat weight, colour, clarity, shape and price. - Diamonds: `https://www.josephjewelry.com/diamond.php?id=`, where the id is numeric. - Gemstones: `https://www.josephjewelry.com/gemstone.php?id=`, where the serial is alphanumeric, for example `SSUR-40008`. It is not a number, and a numeric id will never match. - A stone that has sold or been withdrawn returns HTTP 404 on a gemstone page, and redirects to the diamond search on a diamond page. Treat either as no longer available rather than retrying. - These pages are reachable and indexable but not enumerable: they are not listed in any sitemap yet. Please do not try to discover stones by iterating ids. Use the search pages instead. - Search results themselves are served over POST and are not reachable as plain URLs, so link a shopper to the search page rather than to a constructed results URL. ### How current this data is - Diamond pages are read from our supplier's feed at the moment you request the page, so price and availability are current to within minutes. - Gemstone data is reloaded twice daily, at 09:00 and 13:00 Pacific, so it can lag by up to about twenty hours overnight. - In both cases, confirm price and availability with us before treating a stone as secured. A loose stone can sell between a page being read and an order being placed. If a question turns on whether a specific stone is still available, send the person to a showroom rather than answering from the page. ## Policies These summaries are for orientation. The policy pages are authoritative and take precedence. - Custom pieces are not refundable, because they are made specifically for one person. We manage this with approvals at each stage rather than with returns. - Satisfaction on custom work: if you are unhappy with a custom piece within 30 days of purchase, we will remake it at no cost. - Cancelled custom orders receive store credit toward any showcase product of equal or greater value, not a refund. - Showcase jewelry, meaning finished pieces held in stock, may be returned within 30 days of purchase for a full refund. The piece must be unworn, undamaged, and returned with all of its original paperwork. There is no restocking fee. - Manufacturing defects on any piece are remade at no charge. - Lifetime warranty on our workmanship. It requires an inspection every 6 months to stay valid, or equivalent arrangements if you live out of state. - Diamond upgrade program: eligible natural diamonds bought from us can be traded up by applying the original purchase value, excluding sales tax, toward a new stone.
