This elegant men’s wedding ring features a mokume gane inlay in the center in a gentle wave pattern, with palladium filling out the band on either side, and a brushed finish across the top. It was created for a couple from Portland, OR, and we made an engagement ring for them as well at the same time.
The clients had a good idea about the feeling they were trying to capture with this ring, and they found several sample pieces that they wanted to borrow elements from to achieve this look. We worked through various options with them until we found the one that they loved, and we were able to put it into production in time to meet their desired completion date. Design Your Own Wedding Ring
The center section of this ring is made from a combination of 14k palladium white gold and sterling silver. These are blended together using the mokume gane technique, which was first developed in Japan centuries ago. It involves layering and then forging the metals in a particular way, and it results in the flowing organic patterns seen in this piece. Mokume Gane Rings
Due to the nature of the mokume process, no two pieces will ever come out with exactly the same design. If you find a sample piece that you like, we can use the same technique to produce about an 80% pattern match, but including mokume in your piece ensures that your ring is truly one-of-a-kind. Men’s Custom Wedding Bands
The main portion of this ring is made of palladium, and the mokume inlay runs in a gentle wave pattern all the way around in the center. The clients wanted the inlay to be flush with the rest of the band, and they also wanted it to give the feeling of flowing water, which they felt this design captured well. The entire ring is also brushed, to give it a nice matte surface, and this helps draw out the beautiful subtleties in the design.
