Engagement Ring Description

This exquisite engagement ring features a round alexandrite stone set in a two-tone white and rose gold band with two rows of accent diamonds. It was custom designed for a client, and it combines several unique design elements to create a great alternative to the traditional diamond solitaire engagement ring. Alexandrite Center

Alexandrite is an extremely rare and unique gemstone. Perhaps its most intriguing feature is the fact that it can change color depending on the ambient lighting present. Some stones will even display a delicate blue-green color outdoors, and then switch to a reddish hue when indoors under incandescent lighting.

The stone in this ring is round cut, and it’s held in place by a modified setting featuring two prongs on one side and a bezel-like wrap-around on the other. The asymmetry of the setting is carried over into the rest of the ring as well, and it adds to the uniqueness and contemporary feel of the piece.

Accent Diamonds

Moving away from the center stone along the wrapped shoulder of the shank are two rows of bright cut set diamonds in slightly overlapping bands. These diamonds contrast nicely with the alexandrite, helping to draw out its color while also adding a sparkle of their own. The inclusion of diamonds serves as a slight nod to convention in an otherwise quite unconventional design.

Two-tone Band

This ring incorporates both 14k white gold and 14k rose gold for a striking two-tone look that’s become increasingly popular recently. While the white gold makes up the majority of the band, the addition of a twisting section of rose gold leading up to the center setting complements the flow of the overall design beautifully.
