Center Amethysts
At the center of each earring in this set, a large cushion cut bezel set amethyst. The elongated shape of these larger stones gives the earrings their shape, with rounded corners and slightly curved sides. The way the bezel setting follows the contours of the stones both helps to protect them and highlights their elegant lines. The two amethysts together total 1.46 carats, and their rich purple color is only enhanced by the contrast with the warm tones of the surrounding metal.
Customizing a design like this often involves selecting a different cut or type of stone to occupy the main position. For instance, one direction you could go would be to switch to round, oval, or even emerald cut stones, and you could substitute diamonds or sapphires for the amethysts as well. Earrings
Milgrain and Filigree
The bezel settings holding the amethysts are lined by double rows of milgrain beading, which adds to the vintage charm of the set. On the sides of the earrings, a basket surrounds the backs of the stones, and its sides are made from delicate scroll filigree, which brings some more classical flair and an intricate detailing to the design overall.

After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
