The hallmarks of the Galatea line include a focus on organic themes and the incorporation of light in interesting ways into the design. These pieces are also notable for their creative combinations and uses of traditional materials in an attempt to constantly push the limits of what’s thought to be possible in fine jewelry design.
Carved Pearls
The pearls used in this set are white freshwater pearls, and at 10.5mm in diameter, they provided ample surface area for the full realization of the carved design. They are shaped to resemble roses that have just begun to open, and they’re positioned so that their tops hang directly downward. The intricacy of the carving creates irregularities in the surface of the pearl that cause it to reflect light in different directions, and that allows for a full exploration of the beauty of the material. Earring Design
The pearls attach to the findings through caps that are shaped to depict the way the stem of a rose connects to its bud. This helps to complete the organic look of the design, and it makes for a smooth visual transition to the narrow bale above. This bale consists of a thin wire that loops upward from the rose bud before curving back to pass through the earlobe.

After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
