Amethysts and Diamonds

Each earring contains a pair of gemstones, with the larger amethysts at the bottom and the smaller diamonds suspended above. The amethysts are both cushion cut, and they combine to weigh 1.70 carats. The diamonds, by comparison, are much smaller, coming in at a combined carat weight of 0.04. Earrings

Both types of stones are bezel set in 14k white gold, however, and they produce a lovely color contrast while balancing each other out nicely in their respective roles in the design. The amethysts are positioned with their rounded corners at the compass positions, and the diamonds sit directly above the top corner of the larger stones, suspended by two chain links from the main bodies of the earrings.

Filigree and Milgrain Accents

The bezel settings holding the amethysts are lined with a double row of milgrain beading, while the settings holding the diamonds are accented by a single row. The milgrain also appears on the filigree baskets behind the larger stones, adding to the vintage overtones of the design while simultaneously highlighting the intricacy of the filigree pattern.
