Description
These elegant stud earrings feature round diamonds tension set in a unique design. They were created for a client from Seattle, WA, who brought in an existing pair of silver earrings that she had and asked us to use them as inspiration for a new piece. We built a CAD model of the design we proposed, and from there our client gave approval for us to begin production.

Tension Set Diamonds
Each earring holds a single round brilliant cut diamond, and they each weigh 0.70 carats. These are tension set, and the minimal nature of the setting really helps put the diamonds front and center.
Earring Design
The metal portion of each earring is composed of two flat circles that intersect directly behind the diamond, and that curve up to form the setting holding it. The way they loop out beyond the outline of the gemstones on all four sides makes it look as though the diamonds sit in the center of an X when the earrings are viewed straight on, as they are when they’re being worn.
The loops in the pieces we created have an arc, making them stick out beyond the limits of the diamond. They feature a graceful curve, and all of this contributes to the overall elegance of the piece.

Design and estimate
The initial design and estimate are free, with no obligation. Your designer discusses the materials, changes and budget with you before you commit.
3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
