Three-stone Setting
The center diamond in this ring is 0.80 carats and oval cut, and it’s held securely by four rose gold prongs that rise up from the lower portion of the cathedral shank. They frame the stone beautifully, and their warm color brings just the right amount of contrast to help the sparkling white of the diamond really stand out. The shape of these prongs was something our client was quite concerned with perfecting, and we went over several different options and examples with her until we established exactly what she wanted. The two side stones that complete the main setting are trillion shaped, and they’re also prong set. Their placement just below and slightly tucked under the center stone makes for a great tiered look from the side, and it also lets them reflect light back up towards the center stone, increasing its brilliance. From the top, however, the presentation is even more dramatic, as all three diamonds line up seamlessly.
Band Design
The shape of the band itself was another item the client had specific ideas about, and we adjusted our initial design to reflect her vision. This involved straightening and squaring the edges of the lower portion of the shank, as well as adding a tapered section towards the top of the shoulder. This eventually narrows enough to become the third prong holding the trillion diamond on each side.
