We used the information she shared with us about the style and features she wanted to include in her ring to create highly-detailed CAD representations of the piece as we proposed to build it. She quickly approved these, and so we turned the project over to our expert artisans to begin production. Design Your Own Engagement Ring
Spessartite Garnet Center
The centerpiece of this ring is a 3.00 carat cushion cut Spessartite garnet, and its rich orange color is complemented nicely by the 18k yellow gold that makes up most of its setting. Spessartite garnets were originally discovered in a mountainous forest in Germany in the late 1800s, and their name comes from the Bavarian word for forest. They weren’t used much in fine jewelry until the 1990s, although their average hardness of about 7 on the Mohs scale makes them an appropriate choice for many types of pieces. Two-tone Band
The band of this ring is made primarily from 18k yellow gold, and it’s narrowest at the bottom, widening on both sides on the way up. On one side, however, this widening quickly becomes a split, with one yellow gold strand branching off to the left and a platinum strand branching off to the right. These strands continue up on their diverging trajectories until finally wrapping around the top and bottom of the center stone.
On the other side, the band continues to widen as a solid piece, eventually meeting the side of the garnet at the top. This is the widest point on that side of the band, and it’s the same as the width of the stone itself at that point. All together, the two strands from one side and the wider strand from the other combine to form the tension setting holding the garnet in place.
Diamond Accents and Hand Engraving
The platinum strand also holds round bright cut set diamond accents, which start right at the spot of the split and continue all the way up through the center setting. These add a lovely sparkle and a hint of glamorous flair to the ring.
The fronts of the split strands are hand engraved with a custom pattern the client had developed by an outside artist. This allowed her to include a special personal touch and ensure the complete uniqueness of her piece. Hand Engraving

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
