We worked back and forth with him through the online workroom we set up to manage his project, and he also visited our Bellevue, WA showroom in person to view some rubies for the center and to see a wax model before giving his final approval to move into production.
Ruby Center and Diamond Halo
The centerpiece of this ring is a 0.66 carat princess cut ruby, and it’s held in place by four chevron prongs that simultaneously protect and accentuate its corners. The stone is oriented with its points at the compass positions, which was exactly what the client requested. His inspiration piece had a round blue-green sapphire in the center, and replacing this with the princess cut sapphire was the main modification he made to the design. One of a Kind Engagement Rings
The ruby in this piece is set within and slightly above a perfectly round halo of round bright cut set diamonds. This produces space around the center stone, helping to highlight the contrast in shape as well as color. The halo also helps to intensify the ruby’s shine, as it sends more light back up onto the center from below. Vintage Engagement Rings Seattle
Diamond Accents and Band Design
The shank is straight and flat up to about the mid-point, and there it begins to widen, preparing for a split that comes just a bit higher. The two strands that form in the split angle outward gradually, eventually meeting the sides of the halo to facilitate a smooth transition. Round diamonds are also bright cut set down the shank, and these tie in nicely with those in the halo while also producing a glamorous flair all their own.

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
