Custom Alexandrite And Diamond Engagement Ring

Alexandrite Center
Alexandrite is a rare gem that was only discovered in the mid-1800s in Russia. It was named for the Czar a the time, Alexander II, and its main draw is that is actually changes color significantly depending on the type of lighting its viewed under. For instance, some alexandrite will show a blue-green color in natural sunlight, and then switch to redder hues indoors.
The stone in this ring displays colors ranging from deep blue to purple and even pink. It makes a stunning centerpiece, and it’s securely held in a four-prong setting that accentuates its shape nicely. It’s also a unique alternative to a diamond in an engagement ring, and it’s certainly an eye-catching one as well.
Diamond Side Stones
Of course, this ring design doesn’t forego diamonds altogether, as they occupy significant positions on either side of the main stone. First come two emerald cut diamonds that sit right up against the alexandrite and help accentuate its sparkle by reflecting light back up onto it. Beyond these as you move away from the center setting are two trillion cut diamonds, and their triangular shape helps unite the tapered shank with the squared setting above.

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
