This stunning engagement ring features a round brilliant cut diamond center, set in lovely yellow gold and surrounded by a modified halo of other diamonds. It was created for a client from Mukilteo, WA, who worked with us both online and in person in our Bellevue, WA showroom until we got all of the details she wanted exactly right.

Solitaire Diamond
The main diamond in this ring is a 0.45 carat round brilliant cut stone, and it’s displayed beautifully in a four prong setting. The sparkle of the diamond contrasts nicely with the warm glow of the yellow gold to give the ring a classic look and feel. A round brilliant cut diamond is a popular and traditional choice for an engagement ring, and this one keeps with that tradition while also adding a unique twist with the modified halo below the center stone. Modified Halo
The halo here uses both baguette and round diamonds to create almost a starburst pattern around the center stone. These accent diamonds help accentuate the sparkle of the diamond solitaire by reflecting light back up onto it. They also help the piece stand out due to their unconventional configuration, and they’re all held in place with rounded prongs rising up from the basket below.
Design Considerations
Although we made this ring independent of a wedding band, the client already knew she wanted one that would sit flush against the engagement ring. This meant we had to raise the basket up above the shank, which we did. The client also had concerns about the way the shank moved up into the main setting and about the thickness of the band which we were able to address thanks to open communication through the online workroom and adjustments to our 3D proofs.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
