There are many ways to begin a custom design project with us. Although the client lived across the country, he submitted a quote request and was able to work with our designers entirely through texting.
Cushion Cut Diamond
The client was fairly set on the original setting design, so we focused heavily on the center diamond choice since there are so many choices available. After seeing a few options through pictures and video, the client decided on the beautiful 3.07 carat cushion cut diamond seen above. Diamond Engagement Rings
Cushion cut shaped diamonds are considered a "fancy" shape. They can be cut in a "brilliant" fashion like round brilliant diamonds, or in a more "crushed ice" look. Cushion diamonds are usually a pillow shape with slightly rounded corners on a square. However, cushion cut diamonds can also be found in a more rectangle shape, making those "elongated". All of the variations are unique in their own way, and our designers can help you find the perfect diamond for your custom engagement ring design.
Setting Style
The two-tone setting is covered in diamonds. They are set pave-style, which is a French technique that shows the least amount of metal possible, making the jewelry look as though it is "paved" in diamonds. The diamonds stand out against the yellow gold metal, while the platinum prongs actually make the cushion cut diamond look larger. Unique Engagement Rings

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
