(item # 102126)
This stunning ladies’ fashion ring features a blue spinel center surrounded by a halo of diamonds in shared prong settings. It was designed as a custom piece for a client, from Issaquah, WA, who wanted to create a unique piece of jewelry using her family gemstones. She was inspired by ring #100799, and our experts helped her adjust the design to best highlight her stones and to suit her personal style.
Blue Spinel Center
The stone this ring is built around is an emerald cut blue spinel with a delicate blue color. It’s secured by four large prongs, and then surrounded by a halo of shared prong set diamonds. These diamonds are an excellent complement to the larger center stone due to their brilliant white color and the fact that they reflect light back up onto the blue topaz.
This blue spinel was one of the stones our client brought in herself, as it had been in her family for many years. Using a stone like that can give a piece much more personal significance, and it’s a great way to make old jewelry or family stones wearable again.
Design and Accents
In addition to the halo of diamonds, this piece also includes some accent diamonds running down the shoulder of the shank. These are split prong set, and they add just enough to tie the large center setting in with the band below.
Another interesting feature of this design is the way the outer prongs holding the diamonds in the halo extend down to form something like a basket under the center stone. The openness of this design allows you to see more of the beautiful blue of the center topaz, and it also lends the piece somewhat of an antique look, even as the polished finish gives a nod to a more modern style.
