Mokume Gane Comfort Fit Wedding Band
Item #105774Men's Wedding Band Description
The clients visited our Bellevue showroom, and after some deliberation, chose to go with mokume gane for the groom's ring. He decided on the metal combination as well as the finish, and we went to work to bring it to life. Men’s Custom Wedding Bands
Mokume Gane
Mokume gane is an ancient metalworking technique. It was used in ancient times to create sword handles and sheaths, and it is meant to look like wood. To create this look, different sheets of metal are first layered together. Then, the jeweler uses this block of metal and works it into the pattern the client wants. It is important to note that every ring pattern is completely unique and can only be created to roughly replicate about 80% of the original design. Mokume Jewelry
Men's Ring Options
There are some important specifications for men's rings, and the first is the width. Most men's bands are between 5-9mm, and this particular ring is right in the middle at 7mm. Men’s Wedding Bands Seattle
Another specification is the finish. Most jewelry you see has a polished finish, but many men's styles can have different finishes if requested and the finish can completely change the look. This ring has a matte finish. Other finishes include brushed, hammered, and sandblasted. To see these differences, you can use the filter option on our men's wedding rings page.
Finally, most men's rings are "comfort fit" on the inside, meaning the inside edges are slightly rounded to give a more comfortable feel since the bands are wider than women's.

To reduce color fading, avoid friction against any surface. Avoid wearing your mokume ring during exercise, construction work, gardening, or other abrasive activities. When owning a mokume gane ring with oxidization, avoid chlorine or other similar chemicals as they eat away the patina.

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
