Pendant Description

This elegant pendant features a pear shaped fancy yellow diamond bezel set in yellow gold, accented by an organic-style filigree basket. It was created for a client from Norfolk, VA, who reached out to us online to share his vision for the gift he wanted to give his wife. We had previously made a wedding set for him, and he was so happy with that process and the way the pieces turned out that he came back to us for this 5th anniversary gift. Design Your Own Jewelry

Yellow Diamond Center

The centerpiece of this pendant is a 1.01 carat pear shaped fancy yellow diamond, and it’s bezel set in 18k yellow gold. The client’s wife had specifically described this stone and the design to him on multiple occasions, and so he used the information she had shared over the years to help guide our design process.

The specific color of the diamond was one detail the client was quite concerned with getting right. Yellow diamonds range from light yellow at one end of the spectrum to fancy vivid yellow at the other, and he wanted something that would complement the yellow gold of the setting nicely but not be too intense at the same time. With this in mind, we recommended a few options in the fancy yellow to fancy intense yellow range, and he selected this stone as the best match to his vision. Pendants

Pendant Design and Filigree Basket

The front of the pendant is dominated by the diamond, which is framed beautifully by the rim of yellow gold that surrounds it, making up the bezel setting. The diamond is oriented with the tip pointing upward, and it’s from the end of this tip that the body of the piece connects to the slender bale.

On the sides of the pendant, an elegant scroll filigree forms a basket protecting the back of the stone. This filigree integrates some leaf shapes to give it a more natural feel, as the client specified that his wife preferred organic themes. The openness of the basket also allows plenty of light to reach the center diamond from all sides, helping to increase its brilliance and prevent it from appearing too dark.
