Alexandrites and Diamonds
There are 22 alexandrites and three diamonds in this piece, with the diamonds arranged in a line down the center and the alexandrites clustered into two groups on each side. The diamonds line the body of the butterfly, and their brilliant sparkle is wonderfully enhanced by the elegant shine of the metal they’re set in.
The alexandrites are pave set covering the wings of the butterfly, with a larger group on top and a smaller one on the bottom on each side of the diamond section. These exhibit a lovely blue-green color in daylight and a rich red under incandescent lighting, both of which work well with the design of this piece to enhance the natural overtones. After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
