There are many ways to begin the custom design process, and choosing an inspiration piece you’d like to modify is certainly a good option. A design like this offers several options including switching the types of gemstones, as well as using a different type of setting style. No matter what you’re interested in, though, our experts will create a high-quality CAD model of your piece as we propose to build it, and we’ll share this with you online to get your feedback before beginning the actual production of your piece.
Sapphires and Diamonds
The five pink sapphires in this piece are all oval and shared prong set. They’re oriented to radiate out from the center like flower petals, and their rich pink color only enhances this floral effect. All together, the sapphires total 1.69 carats.
There are also six small round diamonds, which are shared prong set as well, interspersed among the sapphires. One of these forms the center of the flower, with all of the sapphires extending out from it, and the rest are positioned between the far ends of the larger stones to add contrast and balance to the design.
Customization Options
Sapphires are available in many different colors, which gives you a good starting point if you’re interested in customizing this piece. You might also experiment with switching the placement of the sapphires and diamonds, or you may want to use a combination of different metal colors.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
