Custom Mokume Wedding Band
Item #102200 $2,277Women's Wedding Ring Description
Mokume Gane
The lovely organic patterns in this ring reminiscent of wood grain are produced by forging a combination of metals using the mokume gane technique. This is a practice that originated in Japan in the 1700s, where it was initially used to make decorative handles and sheaths for samurai swords.
The creation of mokume gane jewelry is a skill that takes a great deal of practice and experience to master, and our artisans have perfected the technique. The mokume in this ring is made from a combination of 14k white gold, palladium, and sterling silver, and different combinations of metals will result in different color combinations.
Because of the way mokume jewelry is made, no two pieces will ever be exactly alike. However, since the same batch of mokume was used to make all of the rings in this wedding set, they display very similar designs and complement each other nicely.
Milgrain Accents
To give a sense of completion to this piece, as well as a touch of vintage flare, we included a delicate milgrain lining both edges of the mokume inlay. This ties in with the milgrain used in the matching engagement ring as well, giving the set a feeling of continuity.
Custom Wedding Sets
Having all of the rings in your wedding set made together at the same time is the best way to ensure their detailing matches exactly. That’s especially true if you want to incorporate something like mokume gane into the designs, as the patterns will match much more closely if each piece is made from the same batch.
Details
To reduce color fading, avoid friction against any surface. Avoid wearing your mokume ring during exercise, construction work, gardening, or other abrasive activities. When owning a mokume gane ring with oxidization, avoid chlorine or other similar chemicals as they eat away the patina.

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
