Amethyst Centers and Milgrain Beading
The only gemstones in this set are two cushion shaped amethysts that combine to total 1.67 carats. The stones are both bezel set in 14k white gold, and their rich purple color contrasts beautifully with the silvery shine of the metal. The enchanting quality of the stones is also enhanced by the arrangement of facets across their top surface, which is what gives them their distinctive checkerboard appearance.
Although the bezel settings follow the contours of the amethysts closely, they do veer off in the middle of each side to form a point. This adds a dynamic quality to the set, and it also takes things in a vintage direction stylistically. That vintage theme is further enhanced by the use of double rows of milgrain beading to line the margins of the bezel settings all the way around. Earrings
Earring Design
Behind the stones, organic-style filigree baskets provide protection as well as an added intricacy. The narrow findings attach to the bodies of the earrings through a ring that emerges from behind the top point of the bezel setting, and this allows the earrings to hang with those points at the compass positions.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
