Tanzanite Centers
The main portion of each earring is dominated by a cushion shaped checkerboard cut tanzanite that’s bezel set in 14k white gold. The two stones combined total 2 carats exactly, and they exhibit a rich yet delicate bluish-purple color that contrasts wonderfully with the silvery shine of the white gold.
Milgrain and Filigree
The top of the bezel settings surrounding the tanzanite are lined with double rows of milgrain beading, and this detail helps to reinforce the vintage themes already present in the set while also highlighting the elegant shape of the settings. Although they follow the contours of the stones for the most part, these settings curve outward in the middle of each straight side, forming points that hang at the compass positions when the earrings are worn. This detail helps to give them a more delicate and organic feel, and the filigree baskets that wrap around the backs of the stones help to reinforce this feeling as well. The baskets also provide a connection point to the delicate findings above, and their openness ensures that plenty of light can reach the stones from all sides.
Customization Options
To put your personal mark on a set like this, you may want to choose a different type of stone for the center, or you could switch to rose or yellow gold to bring some classical warmth to the design. On the other hand, if you wanted to take things in a more contemporary direction, you could eliminate the milgrain and have the bezel setting follow the contours of the tanzanites more closely.

Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
