Galatea pieces are recognizable thanks to their innovative use of traditional materials. They incorporate light and natural themes in an effort to continually push the limits of fine jewelry design.
Carved Tahitian Pearls and Turquoise Accents
These earrings are composed largely of 10mm Tahitian pearls that are carved in an organic style. The indentations created are in the shape of teardrops, and they’re evenly spaced around the pearls in a staggered pattern. This gives the impression of droplets of water running down the sides of the pearls, and this is only enhanced by the striking color of the turquoise within each indentation.
The use of turquoise here adds to the design in several dimensions. It introduces a dramatic contrast with the rich, dark surface of the pearls, and it helps to take further the organic themes already present.
Earring Design and Diamonds
A floral-style cap made of 14k white gold attaches directly to the top of each pearl, and this gradually tapers moving up. Just above the cap, a small round diamond is flush set, and this detail brings a hint of glamorous flair to the design. The two diamonds together total 0.04 carats, and they prove to be the perfect counterpoint to the large pearls below. Earrings
Above the diamond, the finding extends upward before transitioning into the ear wire. The portion of the finding visible on the front of the ear begins as a narrow strand but widens a bit before tapering back down again at the top.

Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
