Description
This stunning engagement ring features a round brilliant cut diamond prong set in platinum, with four round alexandrite accents running down the shank shoulders. It was created for a client from Seattle, WA, who began the process by reaching out to us over the phone. We then exchanged ideas with him through the dedicated workroom we set up to manage his project, and he also visited our Bellevue, WA showroom in person to inspect the stones we sourced for his ring as well as to provide final approval to a wax model. Center Diamond
At the top of this ring, a 1.70 carat round brilliant cut diamond is cradled in a four-prong platinum setting. Due to the large size of the stone, a gallery rail runs around it below the girdle, adding structural support and creating a nice framing effect at the same time. However, even with the gallery rail, the setting remains quite open, ensuring that plenty of light can reach the stone from all angles, which helps to maximize its shine. Diamond Engagement Rings
Alexandrite Accents and Trellis Setting
Two round alexandrite are prong set on each shank shoulder, with the stone closer to the center significantly larger than the other. The prongs holding these side stones emerge from an intricate crisscrossing pattern of strands on both ring fronts that also incorporates the prongs for the main setting, and the distinctive design this creates makes this a trellis setting. The client specifically requested alexandrite for the side stones, as the combination of blue and purple the stones display in different lighting situations incorporated two colors with special meaning for him and his fiancée-to-be. We sourced stones that were just to the specifications he outlined, and he was very happy with them when he saw them in person prior to them being set in the ring.

After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
