We walked him through his options for various feature combinations, and as his vision began to crystalize, we moved on to more concrete sketches and CAD representations of his design. He came into our Bellevue, WA showroom personally to pick out the emerald for the center, and once he was happy with every detail of our models, we moved his project into production.
Emerald Center
At the center of this ring is a round, 0.93 carat emerald, and it’s tension set in 14k white gold. This keeps the stone nearly flush with the top of the surrounding halo, helping to protect it from damage and keeping the overall profile of the ring low.
The client wanted to make sure his ring had the perfect centerpiece, and so he came in to view the selection of emeralds we had brought in personally. The stone he chose has a brilliant fire and a dazzling green color that shines out beautifully from the surrounding halo.
Black and White Diamond Halo
Six black diamonds and six white diamonds are set in an alternating pattern encircling the center emerald, forming a modified halo that also brings dramatic contrast to the design. The white diamonds are round and bright cut set, while the black diamonds are specially cut in a trapezoid shape and tension set between them. Halo Engagement Rings
Diamond and Amethyst Accents
Round bright cut set white diamonds also run down the split shoulders of the knife edge shank, ending just past where the two strands come together. These are lined with milgrain beading for a hint of vintage flair, and this detail creates a connection with the diamonds in the halo above, as they’re also framed with milgrain. As an extra personal touch, the client wanted to try and work in some amethyst accents, and so we suggested tucking them into the ring fronts for some peek-a-boo color and sparkle. There are three round amethysts on each ring front, and they’re bezel set in a line directly below the center setting for an elegant and subtle touch.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.
Lifetime warranty and care

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
