This elegant engagement ring features a round brilliant cut diamond in a wrapped tension setting atop a sandblasted white gold shank. It was created for a client from Woodinville, WA, who came into our Bellevue showroom personally to get the custom design process started.

After getting an idea of what he wanted, we created some CAD renderings of the ring we proposed to make. He was very happy with these, and he came in again to view a wax model of the ring before approving everything so we could move into production. Design Your Own Engagement Ring
Diamond Solitaire
The lone gemstone in this ring is a one carat round brilliant cut diamond. It’s tension set between the two wrapped ends of the shank, which curve out as they approach the center to curl around the stone. This setting helps keep a low profile for the ring as a whole, while still leaving the sides inline with the band open to allow plenty of light to reach the diamond. Solitaire Engagement Rings
A solitaire design is a very traditional option when it comes to engagement rings, and it gets its name from the fact that the center stone is the only gemstone in the ring. However, there are many ways you can incorporate other features and details to create a unique piece while still maintaining this traditional style, and our design team will guide you through the process to ensure you come away with the perfect piece.
Band Design and Customization Options
The band of this ring is made from 14k unplated white gold. It’s straight and flat most of the way around, but it curves off near the top to transition into the main setting. It also thickens somewhat at this point to accommodate the depth of the diamond. The fine grain of the matte surface on the band is produced by the application of a sandblasted finish, and this works well with the warm tones of the metal to give the ring a subtle classical flair.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
