We worked back and forth with her to determine exactly the type of diamond she wanted in the center, and once we had that settled, we created a model of her piece in CAD as we proposed to make it. She loved it and asked to have a wax representation shipped to her so she could examine it in person before giving her final approval. When she saw the wax, she only requested a small modification to the width of the band, and we then turned things over to our expert artisans to begin production. One of a Kind Engagement Rings
Black Diamond Center
At the top of this ring, a 2.16 carat round black diamond is prong set in platinum. It’s positioned to represent the sound hole in the guitar shape it sits above, and it’s nearly as wide as the narrowest point on the guitar body. These proportions help give the piece a nice balance, and they maintain the look the client was after.
Band Design
The client’s vision was to have the ring entirely made in the shape of a guitar wrapped around the finger. To do this, we used the body of the guitar as the base for the center diamond setting, and we made the band from the neck of the guitar. Strings and frets are highlighted with black antiquing to enhance the details, and the top surface of the body is brushed while the rest of the band is polished.
The only change the client made from our original design was to widen the band slightly to allow the details to come through more clearly. This gives the piece better proportions overall, and it allowed plenty of space for the engraving she wanted on the inside of the band as well.
