Description
This elegant engagement ring features a pear shaped blue sapphire prong set atop a criss-cross white gold shank with diamond accents. It was created for a client from Dillingham, AK, who selected the center stone and the band design separately, and then asked us to combine them into one ring.

Although he couldn’t come into our Bellevue, WA showroom personally, we shared our designs with the client online, and he was very happy with what we came up with. After making some slight adjustments, he gave his approval, and we turned his ring over to our skilled artisans, who turned it into a truly stunning piece.
Blue Sapphire
The blue sapphire at the center of this ring is pear shaped and exhibits a deep, rich color. It contrasts beautifully with the white gold of the shank, as well as with the many accent diamonds running along the band.
The client selected and ordered this stone separately, and then shipped it to us so we could set it in place. Sapphires are a popular choice for engagement rings, although they’re not as widely recognized for this role as diamonds. They represent purity, loyalty, reliability, and faithfulness, all of which are wonderful sentiments to include in a piece like this.

Criss-cross Shank and Accents
The criss-cross design of the shank adds a nice layer of complexity to this ring design. The top half of the shank is also lined with split prong set diamonds, which contribute to the contrasting colors that emphasize the beauty of the center stone.
These diamonds produce a beautiful sparkle as well, and the way that they’re set helps give the piece a bit of vintage flair. If you’re interested in a slightly different look, though, you could opt for bright cut or channel settings instead, and this one small change will have a significant impact on the overall style and feel of the piece.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.
Lifetime warranty and care

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
