Custom Blue Sapphire And Diamond Engagement Ring
Item #103545Engagement Ring Description
To begin the custom design process, the clients visited our Bellevue, WA showroom in person. We took the information they provided at that meeting and used it to create highly-detailed models of their pieces in CAD. We shared these models with them through the online workrooms we set up to manage their projects, and once they were sure the details were perfect, they gave approval to move the rings into production.
Center Sapphire
The centerpiece of this ring is a 4.75 carat round blue sapphire that the clients provided. It has a dazzlingly rich purplish-blue color, and this contrasts beautifully with the warm tones of the 14k yellow gold it’s set in. The setting itself is made up of six prongs, which helps to give it structural stability as well as a vaguely star-like quality. Blue Sapphire Engagement Rings
The setting was based on the one from ring #103001, but it was scaled up slightly to accommodate the larger diameter of the center sapphire the clients provided. They also decided they wanted to do away with the two-tone look of the inspiration piece and stick with yellow gold throughout the center setting as well as on the band, and so our designs reflect these preferences.
Band Design and Diamond Accents
The band is narrower than that of the original inspiration piece as well, and this change was also made at the request of the client. In fact, he found a different piece, this eternity ring, that he wanted the band to resemble, so we used the basic outline of that piece to complete his custom design.
There are 20 small round diamonds in this ring, and they're all shared prong set running down the shank shoulders away from the center setting. These accent diamonds stop about two-thirds of the way down each side, adding a glamorous sparkle as well as a brilliant contrast to the other colors found in the piece.

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
