This stunning engagement ring features a blue zircon center stone with hand engraved feather detailing and blue treated diamonds down each side of the wrapped shank. We started with a sketch of the ring to scale. Then, in the CAD design phase, we created the ring in 3D images and renders so that the client could see what it would look like once we created the ring. After a few slight modifications to make the ring look more feather-like and to add blue diamonds, the client approved the design for production. We offer unlimited changes in our custom design process, and will only move the ring forward to the next step when you are 100% ready.
Blue Zircon
The center of this ring is a beautiful, deep blue zircon gemstone. It weighs just over 2 carats, but since different gemstone varieties have different masses, it is best to refer to the dimensions of the gemstone. This particular gem is a rough equivalent of a 1.10 carat diamond. One of a Kind Engagement Rings
Zircon behaves differently than most gemstones. It has double refraction, meaning when you look into the stone, you'll see double of the facets within. Most other gemstone varieties do not have this feature, and it allows for a beautiful sparkle. Zircon for fine jewelry can also be found as yellow, brown, red, colorless, gray, and green.
Blue Diamonds
The client wanted to see what the ring would look like with blue accents within the feather, instead of colorless diamonds. Blue diamonds were the best option for this since we could match the color to zircon, whereas sapphire would not have matched. Although these accent diamonds are tiny, they add an extra whimsical effect to the whole ring.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
