This lovely yellow gold solitaire setting features a rose cut diamond in the center and dainty angles that allow a straight wedding band to sit flush. We created the 3d CAD models for the ring and made appropriate customizations for the rose cut diamond. After the first round of modeling, the client was ready to move it into production once they saw the wax model.
Rose Cut Diamond
There are many different faceting styles for round diamonds. Round brilliant is the most common faceting, but there are other options for a different look. This ring features a rose cut diamond, which has a flat bottom, rising apex top, and fewer facets, making the diamond look like a blooming rose bud. It is a vintage cut, and some other vintage cuts would be old mine cut, old European cut, and transitional. Diamond Engagement Rings
Solitaire Design
The client had a specific design in mind. The yellow gold band is dainty and rounded. At the top of the band, the four prongs holding the center stone elegantly curve upward to hold the diamond in place. There is a small gold plate under the diamond to hold it in place because the bottom of the diamond is flat, but it can't be seen from the top. Solitaire Engagement Rings
An important element for the client was the eventual ability to wear a wedding band flush with this engagement ring. We were able to show this in the CAD models, and if this is an important design element to you, it is good to plan ahead and make sure it can be done.

After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
