Description
This stunning cocktail ring features a large black onyx gemstone center, a halo of round diamonds, a uniquely shaped border for the halo, and custom relief engraving down the shank. It was created for a client from Valparaiso, IN, who had a specific idea of the ring she wanted to create.

With our custom design process, we were able to create the exact design the client had in mind through our 3d representations and renders. We were also able to show her what different wedding band styles would look like with the ring for later reference. Design Your Own Ring
Black Onyx Center
The centerpiece of this ring is the onyx gemstone. It is an opaque black gemstone cut in a rectangular shape and held in place by a bezel setting. Onyx is a beautiful gemstone choice for a cocktail ring, as it is a sleek black color. The gemstone is thought to provide mental and spiritual support, as well as convert negative energy into positive. Another black gemstone option would be a black diamond, which may be a bit harder for durability and daily wear.
Relief Engraving
The rest of the shank of this ring is covered in relief engraving. This is a specialty type of hand engraving, as it requires the engraver to cut the metal away from the design, instead of cutting the design into metal. Only a handful of engravers in the country are capable of this level of engraving. We exactly matched the design the client was looking for. Hand Engraving
There are many ways to customize this ring. One could start with the center gemstone: the options are endless! It is a nice size for a cocktail ring, but you could absolutely make the center smaller or a different shape if you wanted. Another customization would be to add milgrain around the bezel setting and halo; the milgrain would add a vintage feel to the piece.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.

- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
