Description

This exquisite ring features an ornate dragon carved in yellow gold on the top, accented by a round bezel set diamond. A book and a key are also carved in yellow gold on the shoulders of the oxidized sterling silver band, and this, in turn, is engraved with a complementary pattern. It’s a striking example of the types of pieces you’ll find in our Galatea collection here at Joseph Jewelry, and you can view or try it on anytime you stop by our Bellevue, WA showroom.

Carved Yellow Gold and Diamond Accent

On the top of this ring is a flat, round surface that holds an ornate image of a dragon carved from 14k yellow gold. The head of the dragon appears in profile just below the center of the circle, and its body extends downward from there before curling back around and up to wrap around above the head.

Just in front of the dragon’s mouth is a 0.05 carat round diamond that’s bezel set in yellow gold as well, and this setting is also gripped by the end of the tail as it curls around. The inclusion of the diamond gives the design a hint of glamorous flair, and it adds another layer of contrast with the warm tones of the metal it’s set in, as well as with the black of the ring itself. Ring Design and Engraving

Moving down from the round top surface of the ring, the shank shoulders begin a dramatic taper that ends about half-way down each side. The top of the band is rounded, and it’s made of sterling silver that’s oxidized to create a deep black color. The band of the ring is also engraved with a flame and scales motif that complements the dragon design on the top and creates a connection between the two sections of the ring.

Carved yellow gold accents also sit on each shank shoulder, centered just below the edge of the flat top section. On one side, this yellow gold is in the shape of an open book, while a key sits on the other. These bring added meaning to the design, as well as a reinforcement of the contrast between the two main elements used in the ring.

Customize

Use this design as a starting point for a custom piece.

Discuss the stones, metal, proportions, setting and finish with a designer, online or in our Seattle and Bellevue showrooms. You can bring reference photographs or your own stone for us to assess.

  1. Design and estimate

The initial design and estimate are free, with no obligation. Your designer discusses the materials, changes and budget with you before you commit.

  2. 3D design review

After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.

  3. Physical model

A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.

  4. Approval and production

The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.

Quality

Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.

Structure and support
The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
Diamond and gemstone selection
We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
Final inspection
Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.
