These exquisite cufflinks feature a mokume gane center surrounded by a halo of diamonds, all set in 18k white gold. They were custom made for a client to go along with wedding ring #102157, and our design team worked closely with him to ensure we got every detail just right. Since he was a local customer, we were able to work with him onsite in our Bellevue, WA showroom, but we can also create custom orders like this completely online.

Mokume Center
The center of these cufflinks is filled with a mokume gane inlay, which was made by layering several different types of metals and then forging them together. The specific technique used to produce the characteristic mokume patterns seen here was developed in Japan centuries ago, and it takes a great deal of skill and experience to master.
Fortunately, our artisans can execute it to perfection, and because of the nature of the forging process, no two mokume patterns will ever be exactly the same. That means you’re guaranteed a one-of-a-kind piece whenever you include this type of detail in your custom jewelry.
Diamond Accents
Running around the outside of the mokume is a halo of bright cut set diamonds, which add some sparkle to the cufflinks and really make them shine. The diamonds create a nice contrast with the softer tones of the mokume, and they complement the polished white gold that makes up the body of the cufflinks as well.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
