Mokume Gane
The middle portion of this ring is made up of a band created using the mokume gane technique. This involves layering several different types of metal together and then forging them in a specific way to achieve the kind of organic pattern seen here.
This particular ring features mokume made from 14k rose gold, 14k palladium white gold, and sterling silver, but there are many other options as well if you’re interested in a different color combination. And because of the nature of the mokume process, no two pieces will ever be exactly alike, ensuring that your ring is truly one-of-a-kind. Mokume Jewelry
Band Design
There are many ways to incorporate mokume gane into your ring. In this particular piece, the mokume inlay sits flush with the rose gold rails for a smooth, sophisticated look. The two sections are differentiated, however, by the use of contrasting finishes that highlight their individual characteristics. The mokume section is brushed, for a nice matte effect, while the rose gold rails are polished to a high shine.
Matching Wedding Sets
We made this band to match engagement ring #102104, as the clients wanted to have the various pieces of their wedding set share certain characteristics. Although the men’s and women’s rings are made in very different styles, the use of the same type of metals and the
same pattern for the mokume creates a special link between the two.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
