We develop CAD representations of each custom design piece we make, and we’ll share these with you so that you can make sure each detail is perfect before giving your approval for us to begin production.
Mokume Gane
The beautiful organic patterns in this ring are the result of the mokume gane forging process. This is a technique that was developed several hundred years ago in Japan for use in making decorative sheaths and hilts for samurai swords. It involves layering thin sheets of different types of metal together and then forging them in a particular way. The technique is quite difficult to master, and our expert artisans have many years of experience, which allows them to produce wonderful pieces like the one seen here. Men’s Custom Wedding Bands
The mokume in this particular ring is made from a combination of 14k rose gold, 14k palladium white gold, and sterling silver. It’s also sandblasted to create a soft matte surface that helps highlight the warm tones of the metals. Because no two mokume rings are exactly alike, you could use this same combination of metals and still have a completely unique piece. But if you like the general pattern you see here, we can use the same technique to make yours and come out with about an 80% match.
Contrasting Finishes
The white gold of the rails that border the mokume section contrast beautifully with the rich colors of the inlay, and this separation is further highlighted by the use of a high polish finish on the rails. These contrasting finishes are a subtle touch that has a significant impact on the overall appearance of the ring, and it’s an area that you may consider customizing as well.
Details
To reduce color fading, avoid friction against any surface. Avoid wearing your mokume ring during exercise, construction work, gardening, or other abrasive activities. When owning a mokume gane ring with oxidization, avoid chlorine or other similar chemicals as they eat away the patina.

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
