Custom Mokume Men's Wedding Band
Item #102217Men's Wedding Band Description
Mokume Gane
The most dramatic feature of this ring is the mokume gane inlay, which is created by layering different types of metal together and then forging them in a very particular way. This technique was originally developed in Japan hundreds of years ago, and it takes a great deal of skill and experience to master. Fortunately, our artisans have that in abundance, as they can expertly create mokume like what you see here. Joseph Jewelry Mokume Collection.
The mokume in this particular ring was made with a combination of 14k rose gold, 14k white gold, palladium, and sterling silver. It was then acid etched and treated to create the black oxidation effect that gives the design so much depth and complexity.
Step Edge Rails
While many rings in this style incorporate the mokume inset so it lies flush with the rest of the band, this ring was made with a step edge. That means that the mokume center sits up above the polished platinum rails, which adds another dimension to the design and serves to emphasize the contrasting finishes on the mokume and platinum portions of the ring.
Customization Options
As with any of our rings, there are many ways you can customize this design to make it truly your own. For instance, you could use a different combination of metals in the mokume, or you could choose to set the center portion flush with the rest of the band instead of raised up.
Adding custom engraving is another way to customize your ring, and it’s also an area where we excel. Our artisans complete that kind of detailing in our Bellevue, WA location as the last step in the production process, which means we can match just about any pattern or geometric design you’d like to include in your custom jewelry.
Details
To reduce color fading, avoid friction against any surface. Avoid wearing your mokume ring during exercise, construction work, gardening, or other abrasive activities. When owning a mokume gane ring with oxidization, avoid chlorine or other similar chemicals as they eat away the patina.

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
