Custom Squared Mokume Pattern Ring
Item #103985Men's Wedding Band Description
On this visit, he found a ring that he liked, and so we worked with him to find the best combination of materials to achieve the perfect look. He communicated with our team through the online workroom we set up to manage his project throughout the process, and we only turned things over to our expert artisans to begin production once we’d received his explicit approval to do so. Mokume Gane
The main feature of this ring is the organic pattern of the mokume gane that forms the body of the piece. These patterns are the result of the particular way the mokume gane is made, and that involves layering thin sheets of the chosen metals together and then forging them in a specific way. The mokume in this ring is made from a combination of palladium white gold and sterling silver.
This technique was developed in Japan several hundred years ago, and it was originally used to make decorative hilts and sheaths for samurai swords. Its recent expansion into the world of fine custom jewelry, however, provides you with many options for how to integrate it into your piece, and due to the nature of the forging process, no two mokume gane pieces will ever exhibit exactly the same pattern. Square Band Design and Customization Options
The band itself is 8mm wide, and it’s squared, with four corners and sides that curve out very slightly. This produces a more masculine and substantial look, and one way to customize the piece would be to adjust the width of the band to whatever’s most comfortable for you. You could also experiment with different combinations of metals for the mokume, and you may find you prefer a polished or sandblasted finish in place of the brushed used here.
Details
To reduce color fading, avoid friction against any surface. Avoid wearing your mokume ring during exercise, construction work, gardening, or other abrasive activities. When owning a mokume gane ring with oxidization, avoid chlorine or other similar chemicals as they eat away the patina.

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
