Custom Men's Mokume Wedding Band
Item #100673Men's Wedding Band Description
Mokume-gane jewelry is handmade via a difficult and highly skilled practice, with each piece hand forged with its own entirely singular appearance. The creation of Mokume-gane is a process by which thin plates of different metals are stacked together and forged into a single piece, the end result taking on the captivating appearance of natural wood grain. It is therefore rising in popularity for men’s rings, with its versatile and masculine aesthetic that offers a unique look to even the simplest of bands.
Mokume-gane can be made with many different combinations of metal, from contrasted pieces of dark-colored metal on light-colored metal to more subtle pieces of silver-white on platinum-white. For this particular piece, the client wanted to go for an eye-catching, sharply-contrasted, multi-hued look. Notice the coppery red, the deep grey, the silver, and the black. The metal itself was fashioned into a broad, unadorned band, built for the kind of comfort and thickness that is so popular for men’s rings. The final product was finished with acid etching and oxidized silver to give it a uniform texture.
You, too, can have a truly unique piece of Mokume-gane, courtesy of Joseph Jewelry’s custom design jeweler in Seattle and Bellevue. Simply select the metal layers you want, and we’ll fashion them into a ring that you can feel proud of!

To reduce color fading, avoid friction against any surface. Avoid wearing your mokume ring during exercise, construction work, gardening, or other abrasive activities. When owning a mokume gane ring with oxidization, avoid chlorine or other similar chemicals as they eat away the patina.

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
