Mokume Gane

To create the lovely swirling patterns in this ring, our artisans layered and forged together thin sheets of 14k rose gold, 14k palladium white gold, and sterling silver using the mokume gane technique. This method was developed in Japan hundreds of years ago, and it was originally used to make handles and sheaths for samurai swords. Mokume Jewelry

It has since become popular in fine jewelry, and the techniques used to create it take many years to master. Our experts are proficient in the mokume gane method, which allows us to provide you with gorgeous pieces like the one you see here. Due to the nature of the forging technique, no two pieces will exhibit exactly the same patterns, but if you see one you like, we can use the same technique to produce about an 80% match. Inner Band

The mokume band is slightly domed and sandblasted, with acid etching and black antiquing to highlight the flowing patterns that run all the way around. On the inside, however, a solid rose gold band with a high polish finish sits next to the finger, and it features a slight dome as well to create a comfort fit.

To reduce color fading, avoid friction against any surface. Avoid wearing your mokume ring during exercise, construction work, gardening, or other abrasive activities. When owning a mokume gane ring with oxidization, avoid chlorine or other similar chemicals as they eat away the patina.
