This designer is known for innovative use of conventional materials, and this piece is an excellent example of that. Carved Black Pearl and Turquoise
The pearl that makes up the body of this piece is Tahitian, and it measures 10mm in diameter. It’s rich, black color is perhaps its most striking characteristic, and these types of pearls are much sought-after because of that feature.
The pearl in this case has a pattern of teardrop shapes carved all the way around, and these are arranged in a staggered pattern that gives the impression that they are droplets of water running down the sides of the pearl. Adding to this theme are the turquoise accents within each carved space that add their intense blue color, creating a lovely contrast with the deep tones of the pearl. Pendants
Bale Design and Diamond Accent
The bale attaches to the top of the pearl through an organically-styled cap that tapers as it extends up, eventually reaching its narrowest point slightly less than half-way to the top. This is also the point at which a single 0.03 carat accent diamond is set, and that small detail provides the perfect counterpoint to the large, dark pearl below. Above the diamond, the bale begins to expand again, widening even more than it had previously as it reaches up to meet the chain.

A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
