Drilled Diamond and Marquise Sapphire
This artfully designed necklace features a princess cut diamond, paired with a marquise cut blue sapphire. The square diamond is in compass orientation, with its lower corner pointing towards the tapered edge of the marquise sapphire.
Both stones are interconnected by a platinum ring and are drilled carefully to perfection. The drilling technique allows for less metal setting to be used and gives the design a simple and neater look.
For those who like to show more of their stones, a jewelry piece with pierced gems is your go-to option. This style is perfect if you’re looking for a gift with a special trait.
The cable link chain centrally holds the diamond and sapphire through a jump ring. Both stones appear to float alone thanks to the drilling technique which makes them appear lighter than air.

After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
