Description
This stunning pendant features an oval blue Spinel prong set, encircled by a scalloped halo of diamonds, and accented with milgrain beading. The design was developed for a client from Bellevue, WA, and we’d be glad to make an identical one for you, or we can help you customize it until it better suits your tastes.

Blue Spinel
The deep blue color of the oval blue Spinel at the center of this piece contrasts beautifully with the metal it’s set in, as well as with the diamonds that surround it. Its slightly elongated shape suits it well, and the choice of an open, four prong setting helps the stone’s natural beauty shine through.
Scalloped Halo and Milgrain
Bulges of four and five diamonds curve out from the center stone on both sides and the top, appearing to be gathered in by the four prongs holding the Spinel. Taken together, these form a scalloped halo that complements the shape of the main gemstone nicely, and that also helps its natural beauty shine through by reflecting additional light back onto it.
Each section of bright cut set diamonds making up the halo is lined with milgrain beading as well, and this gives the piece a bit of vintage flair, while also bringing a satisfying, finished quality to the design.
Customization Options
If you like the general shape of this piece but don’t think it’s exactly what you’re looking for, our experts will help you customize it. There are quite a few options in this regard, including switching to a different type of metal for the body of the pendant. A rose or yellow gold would add another layer of contrast, while also reinforcing the classical overtones of the piece, for example.
You could also select a different type of gemstone for the center or for the halo, letting you include a birthstone or favorite color in the pendant. And you could eliminate the milgrain if you’re after a more modern look. 3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.

Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.

- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.

- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
