Description
This stunning pendant features a radiant cut blue sapphire surrounded by a diamond halo, with additional diamond accents on the bail. It was created for a client from La Canada Flintridge, CA, who asked us to design a beautiful new setting for his existing sapphire. We communicated with him online to finalize the details of the piece, and after a few rounds of adjustments, he approved the design to send the project into production.

Center Sapphire
The exquisite blue sapphire at the center of this piece is a 2.07 carats double prong set. It displays a rich blue color, the beauty of which is only enhanced by the diamond accents surrounding it. Sapphires are a wonderful choice for use in all kinds of fine custom jewelry, as they're nearly as hard as diamonds and come in many different colors.
Diamond Accents
Shared prong set diamonds surround the center sapphire, adding wonderful sparkle to the piece and contrasting nicely with the larger stone. The shared prong setting helps minimize the amount of metal that’s visible, and it also gives the piece some vintage flair.
There are three round bright cut set diamonds on the bail, and these taper in size along with the metal they’re set in. This detail helps unite both parts of the piece, and it helps keep the all the focus on the gemstones.
Pendant and Bail Design
The back of the pendant was something that our client wanted to make sure was just right. Initially, we had a more open design, but he found some other example pieces that he liked, and so we incorporated the geometric-style pattern he picked out into his piece. Design Your Own Jewelry

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
