Description
This elegant pendant features a stunning blue and green opal, surrounded by a halo of diamonds. It was created as a custom order for a client from Bellevue, WA, who purchased the stone in Australia and wanted us to design a beautiful pendant around it that he could give to his wife to mark their 10th anniversary. We collaborated with him both online and in person to ensure the piece we produced was exactly what he had in mind.

Opal Center
The opal that anchors this pendant exhibits wonderful blue and green fire, and the way the colors swirl together within the stone give it an almost mystical quality. Its shape is slightly irregular, and that only helps reinforce the organic nature of the stone’s interior designs.
Opals have long been used to represent passion, faithfulness, loyalty, and warmth, among other things. They come in a variety colors, and they are most often paired with diamonds, as their sparkling white color helps enhance the opal’s beauty.
Diamond Halo
For just that reason, we surrounded the opal in the pendant with a halo of bright cut set round diamonds. The halo follows the contours of the stone, which means that it’s a slightly irregular shape as well. But this works well with the fluid nature of the design, and the diamonds contribute an additional layer of meaning, as they are commonly associated with love, unparalleled beauty, and passion.
The diamonds in the halo are also echoed by another diamond higher up, a bezel-set princess cut stone. It sits at the point where the two parts of the chain and the link rising up from the pendant converge, and its squared shape is a beautiful counterbalance to the asymmetrical opal.

We will help you in sourcing and selecting a stone to get you started; our experts are up to the task. We’ll find you a unique stone to match your specifications, and then we’ll build a design around it that lets its true beauty really shine through. Design Your Own Jewelry

Discuss the stones, metal, proportions, setting and finish with a designer, online or in our Seattle and Bellevue showrooms. You can bring reference photographs or your own stone for us to assess.
Design and estimate
The initial design and estimate are free, with no obligation. Your designer discusses the materials, changes and budget with you before you commit.

After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.

Customer reviews
Joseph Jewelry did a nice job setting a black opal I purchased in Australia. They designed a pendant with diamonds for my tenth anniversary gift. Thank you!
